OBR Officer information and Canada Revenue Agency

As per OBR system update – January 24, 2024

Effective January 24, 2024, the OBR system will no longer share a corporation’s Officer information with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). Officer information provided in Corporations Information Act (CIA) filings/services will not be ported over electronically to CRA’s system. Officer information previously sent to CRA was recorded in their system along with information related to other roles listed in the OBR (e.g., Director). If an Officer was added to CRA’s system before January 24, they will remain in their system unless intentionally removed.

CRA does not require Officer information and no further action is required from clients as a result of this change. Clients who would like to add an individual who is an Officer to a corporation’s CRA account can reach out to CRA directly on how they can be added as an authorized representative or call:

• Business Inquiries at 1-800-959-5525
• Charities Directorate at 1-800-267-2384

CRA will continue to receive Director information for corporation registrations and CIA filings/services from the OBR. The implementation of this change to the OBR system will better align Director information with what is recorded in CRA’s system. This will also prevent the sharing of duplicate information for different roles in OBR with CRA.
