Toronto Court Searches – System Update
Although the Ontario Court Processing Platform (OCPP) currently lacks some advanced search functionality, it is the system now being used to search new Toronto court matters.
The OCPP is the required platform for accessing Toronto filings, including:
- Civil Litigation
- Bankruptcy matters
- Small Claims Court
Since the system transition in approximately mid-October 2025, Toronto cases no longer appear on the previous JSO system or courthouse PVT terminals. As a result, the OCPP is the primary platform for searching new Toronto matters. While the system remains operational, it has experienced technical issues since launch, and we continue to monitor its performance closely.
To ensure we are providing the most thorough and accurate results possible, we will continue to search the PVT and JSO systems where available, in addition to the OCPP, as part of our standard search process.
Our team is taking all reasonable steps to ensure searches are conducted as efficiently and carefully as possible under the current system conditions. We will continue to provide updates as functionality improves or further changes are announced.

OCPP Name Search Limitations
We continue to see significant limitations in the system’s name-search functionality that clients should be aware of.
Issue: No “Exact Match” Option
OCPP currently does not offer an “exact match” search. As a result, variations of a party name appearing within the same court file will show as multiple separate results, such as:
- “ABC Developments LP”
- “ABC Developments”
- “ABC Developments Inc.”
This causes unnecessary duplicates and makes identifying unique cases more challenging, especially for common names.
Why It Matters
The lack of precise name matching can lead to:
- Duplicate or inflated result lists
- Increased risk of missing relevant cases
- Additional work required to manually compare, cross-check, and confirm which entries represent the same court file
Increased Processing Time
Because OCPP returns multiple variations as separate “hits,” our team must now:
- Review each apparent result individually
- Cross-reference file numbers to determine which entries are duplicates
- Consolidate and annotate the results for clarity
This manual reconciliation process significantly increases the time required to complete Toronto searches — especially for common names or large Ontario-wide litigation requests. While we continue to process results as efficiently as possible, clients may notice longer turnaround times for affected searches.
Action Taken
We have contacted the Attorney General’s office to request:
- The addition of an Exact Match search option
- Clear guidance on how OCPP handles name variations
We will share updates as soon as more information becomes available. We encourage you to do the same! We need your support to make these changes happen!
What This Means for Current Searches
Centro will continue to:
- Carefully review and reconcile potential duplicate listings
- Flag limitations or ambiguities arising from OCPP behaviour
- Provide clear explanations in our reports where necessary
Until the system improves, please note that Toronto litigation results may include duplicates and require more time to process accurately.
Notice as of November 12, 2025
Please be advised that the Ontario Court Public Portal (OCPP) has replaced the JSO (Justice Services Online) system for the Toronto jurisdiction only, effective October 14th, however the system is currently experiencing technical issues affecting access and reliability.
As part of this transition:
- Toronto cases no longer appear on the previous JSO system, and
- As of approximately October 8th, they are no longer accessible through the local courthouse PVT terminals.
Since launch, the OCPP has been experiencing ongoing technical issues, which are currently impacting access and search reliability. These issues are affecting all service providers and may result in delays and incomplete Toronto litigation search results until the system stabilizes.
Our team is monitoring the situation closely and will continue to process all Ontario-wide litigation searches as efficiently as possible. Searches in other jurisdictions outside Toronto remain unaffected and continue to operate normally.
We will provide further updates as the OCPP stabilizes.

Effective October 14, 2025, the new Ontario Courts Public Portal (OCPP) is live and currently applies to the Toronto jurisdiction only. Results from the OCPP and the existing Court Case Search Tool may be incomplete or may not reflect the most current information. To ensure accuracy and completeness, Centro Legal Works Inc. utilizes a combination of all three systems — the OCPP, the Court Case Search Tool, and the courthouse Public View Terminal (PVT). By cross-referencing data across these sources, our team provides the most comprehensive and verified court search results available.
Centro will continue to monitor the OCPP’s performance and provide updates as the system evolves.
